New Awards Scheme – Fish of the Month
As you are aware, the Group has always offered its members an award scheme to recognise member’s achievements as well as fish that are notable in relation to the venue. Historically the Awards Committee has awarded certificates and bronze, silver or gold pins to members that have completed the application form and submitted photographs. Over the past few years, interest in this scheme has severely declined with very few applications actually received. In line with the launch of the new website, the Committee has decided to re-launch the Award Scheme as a Catfish of the Month Award.
All applications should be sent to ccgfishofthemonth@outlook.com and include the following information:
• Name
• Membership number
• Date
• Venue
• Weight
• Details (method, bait, etc)
At the end of every month, the Awards Committee will review all the applications and award pins for the most notable 3 captures with all details and pictures received being published on the website. At the end of the season, all applications will be reviewed and further awards made for the three most notable catches. The annual rewards will be presented each year at the AGM, with each of the winners being awarded an additional trophy. We hope that you will all partake in this new scheme and look forward to receiving your applications throughout the season.
To make it easy, an application form will be included in each issue of Whiskers.
Adrian Hills and Jonathan Wilson – Awards Committee
Every submitted capture is considered by the awards committee and judged on its merit. We look at the catch in relation to the type and size of the water as well as the nature of the capture. The size of the fish is always looked at in relation to the venue.

Awards will only be presented to current members of the Catfish Conservation Group who have correctly completed an award entry form. All entries must be accompanied by photographic evidence. Witness details will be required with most entries. Claim forms can be downloaded from the link below, alternatively they are available by post from any committee member, please enclose a SAE.
The committee representatives will judge the entries as objectively as possible and their decision should be considered as final. Whilst the group is always interested in the capture of all species of catfish it regrets that awards can only be made for wels catfish - Silurus glanis.
